I began acting at college by accident, taking a class in acting techniques to fill a gap in an otherwise music-based course. I soon discovered a deep affinity with the discipline and ended up primarily as an actor. For one reason or another, I found myself unable to pursue it as a career until auditioning successfully for drama school at the ripe old age of 27. Through the prestigious Carlton Hobbs Award, I won a contract with the BBC and enjoyed 6 blissful months as part of the Radio Drama Company. Once again, circumstances dictated that I was unable to continue acting professionally after that period. I have since married and have two wonderful children, but the pull of the industry calls me back continually. I have been involved in many amateur productions since, more recently as an actor/director and many of these performances are on YouTube. I am currently working on scripts and music for film, but would dearly love to be involved in the professional world again.
My forté, given my background in music and radio, is undoubtedly my voice and I have the skill, techniques and range to utilise my voice in a wide variety of roles and accents. Listen to my voice reels for more.
During the 20 or so years of experience gained in the industry, I find I am looking ever deeper into why we do what we do, and I realise the huge potential and influence that actors can have on their audience. I feel I'm better equipped than ever to effectively deliver what writers, directors and producers are looking for. For me, with age comes wisdom and a lack of the self-consciousness that dogged me in earlier life.
Do you have more questions? Are you interested in collaborating on a project? Send me a message, and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
